How do we deal with the conditions on our lives, both those imposed on us and those we impose on ourselves?  These pieces are portraits of people trying their best to cope, sometimes for better, sometimes for worse.  The sculptures were modeled directly in wax, cast in aluminum, and polychromed with artist’s acrylics, conceived from the beginning as paintings in space.  The drawings were preliminary studies for the sculptures.
